Artist Statement

The Arizona desert is diverse, dangerous and the wildlife is truly wild. Saguaros line the mountains, soaring and reaching upwards towards the beating sun that parches the landscape. While the desert is harsh the shrubs, trees and other various cacti allow the environment to thrive and bring color to the neutral landscape. I grew up in Arizona and it took me a long time to appreciate what it has to offer - both the beautiful and the ugly. I often ask myself why it took me so long to notice the smaller details found within this vast desert. When I finally picked up my camera and took a closer look, I realized there is so much more to see. Are you taking a closer look?
